Independence Day 2020
Happy Birthday America, Lady Liberty and thank you to all the humans that keep this country free! I am grateful to be am American and blessed to have been born here. Our country is far from perfect and we have a lot of work to do. From the social injustices against people of color #blacklivesmatter, to the treatment of indigenous people, ICE detaining and holding kids hostage.
We are all brothers and sisters on this Earth, no matter your color, race, religion, sexual preference, identity or otherwise. I believe we all have something unique to offer to this world and all we need to do is listen. Listen without judgement, preconception, bias, and with an open heart. We, even I as a Mexicano-Americano, can never understand what Black-American goes through or a LGBQT-American goes through. I empathize with them on a human level because it is our God given right to be treated equally and fairly. It starts in our own homes, it starts with us and our kids. Don't forget that your kids may not listen to what you say, but they are always watching. Let's set the right example for our future and just love one another.
Happy Independence Day and happy birthday, to the greatest country on Earth. Let's work on ourselves, as Americans, to show the rest of the world what Freedom really looks like.
